I think the purpose is heat transfer. The water flowing it keeps the manifold from over-heating.

Its not to cool the water. Its a preheat for cold starts and cooled weather.

I have the same carb with pierce manifold and never hooked up the water to the manifold and never have had a problem with starting in any temperature. The original Stromberg manifold also had the water tube as well.

If I lived in a high humidity area I would hook up the heater to the manifold- anyone in the airplane flying arena will recognize that the heat tube is there to prevent carburetor (manifold) icing.

I too put weber on and it works. Only thing I can't figure out is what to connect oil separator line to. Does anyone have any hints for me?

Drew,
You need to drill a hole in the manifold boss, thread it, screw in a nipple, connect the line from the oil separator with a pcv valve inline and hope you get it right. Too much flow and you suck oil, too little and you leak oil. This is for a 1275.
