...I have a 1966 D type Volvo P1800 drivetrain, how much if any of it could be used in MGB applications.

Somewhat off topic: I had a hot TR4A-OD and got into a stop light street drag race with a TD which blew my doors off. Turns out it had a Volvo drive train.

Be safe out there.

You could probably use it all. An OD tranny would be nice thought the Volvo crowd is embracing the T5. I suspect that the usual problems of shift lever location, tunnel and cross member clearance would come into play.

I had a discussion with John Esposito a few weeks ago when I visited his shop regarding Volvo D type overdrive. The discussion dealt with using internal Volvo components & annulus to increase the output ratio from approx 20%; to approx 33%. John essentially said it can be done, except you would need an adapter to couple the drive shaft. I am thinking about doing this mod, if I can find a useable & correct Volvo D type.

After all you do to get the Volvo O/D in, to me all you have is a OLD bucket of bolts D type O/D, they are not all that reliable! I am going to build a B that will run a lot of trouble free miles.
