Hi guys
I made some pics for Jon and thought I would post to the site in case anyone is looking for a way to reduce weight for his car.
Took some pics of my windows this morning. Hope these give you some ideas. The main thing I would do different is to make the frames out of 3/16 rather than the 1/8 I used. It would beef the windows up and keep them tighter against the top. All said and done they work pretty well.
Sorry, I don't have any pics of the window making. After I made the frames I had an upholster cover them with weather resistant Naugahyde and clear plastic. HD plastic is bolted to the top of doors providing a mount place for the windows. Two bolts on each side hold the windows in place. I used thread inserts from the back side of the HDP to allow me to use the bolts repeatedly.
First pic is what the inside of the door looks like. To open the door you lift up on the lever. I have the push button door release on the outside but no lock.
Second pic is what the window looks like out of the car.
Third pic is the outside of the drivers compartment.
Fourth view is window mounted on passenger side.
Fifth view is passenger side view outside.
Sixth is storage bag for windows
Seventh view is mounting bracket closeup.
I cut and pasted these so you might have to switch the order around to make sense of them.
