......about $220.......ebay and direct from the manufacturer..........anyone ever buy one....?.....good or bad....?....10'x20'..............harbor freight also has a plastic garage for $190.......ditto question on this..........actually, I would prefer a pre-fab garage with wooden or rigid plastic panels.......but these seem a bit pricey........jim

If you could provide a link we would know what you are talking about. Seeing that you are from snow country I would wonder how one would survive a winter intact. $200? I suspect that you will get what you pay for. Planning on driving your car through the winter? If not, a rental storage unit might be a better deal

I may be mistaken but I believe Jim is asking about this type of automotive shelter:

Gerry- well- an example of these garages is.......ebay# 181334824471.......I have seen a few of these in Cleveland.....if the plastic is decent, then the snow would not be a problem....... just got a 74 B......needs attention.....bodywork, etc.....nah- B's need actual snow tires to go anywhere in the snow.......I don't plan to drive this one on snowy roads.......I do not trust rental spaces- at all.....I like to have English cars near me.......while these garages may seem primitive, they might be a good solution for me.......any temporary garage is legal here if a house is listed as being garage-free.........otherwise- hell and high water dealing with city permits and regulations........

My neighbor had one of those in his driveway, and I can say they last a long time...way too long! I think it was there for at least five years, until they finally took it down when they moved.

Here is my experience. I have no garage here. I have an old carriage house that is too damp and a bit too small. So....I got (on sale at Tractor Supply) 2 12x20 Shelter Logic portable garages. Started with one to have bone dry storage for the 67 and the newly restored '27 Old Town Canoe. Liked it enough that I got a second one for a work bay. Right now outside the lights are on in there and I will work on the '72 bonneville for a bit. I covered the ground with 6mil plastic, laid 3-4 inches of crushed stone. laid another layer of plastic (both run up the side like a bath tub) and put down another layer of crushed stone. I finished this with 7/16ths OSB held together with mending plates.I have electricity coming via some 10ga extension cord which splits off all around it. I have an inline GCFI in the basement where it comes from and another GCFI inline inside the garage. I have two 4' long shop lights in each unit. I use a K1 powered Salamander heater for the winter. It runs of a remote so I can warm it up from the house before going out. I ran 100' of air line from my 60 gallon compressor in the carriage house. I now have benches, storage shelf units, a rack for misc steel stock. I weld out here. I am doing sills and floors in my nephew;s 67 Alpine and the total tear down and rebuild of my new to me '72 Triumph Bonneville. I have $1500 invested in this place. I would love to have a real garage but budgets and Codes are currently preventing it.

The Alpine project. Putter was helping me redo the Bonneville's seat this day;

Good view of the shop in general;

I am in Maine so we do have snow. I have to be carefull about that as this is not snow rated. If I am going to have a big storm (greater than 10" or very wet snow). I place inline a set of 2x3 studs precut and notched to fit in every four feet. It helps take a big weight load off the pipe frame.

Very custom cut to allow for the GT to be parked inside for this storm smiling smiley

It helps if I am home to use a plastic roof/snow rake to clear snow from the outside. When the snow bank gets above 4' tall against it. I shovel teh snow away from it to take away lateral loading on it. 3-4 years now and going great.

Carl.....how long have you had your's up? I know Kim de Bourbon has one she got maybe 12 years ago or so and, last I heard, she's still using it - but I don't know if she's still using the original fabric, replacement fabric or a tarp.

I guess it's ok if you don't mind having your property look junky......

Mine is hidden between the house and a tree line and dark green. I live in a rural woodsy farm area. my next door neighbor has two different ones on his farm. In Maine we have HOA's but they are slightly different. In my HOA, we all know the layout of each other's house because none of them are locked and it is not unheard of to have one call and ask you to let their dog out or make sure the stove is off etc. If I am running my snow blower and my neighbor is not home yet, I clean out his driveway and vice versa. No one complains about each other's place for the most part.

Joe, Mine has been up for three winters now. I need to replace one door as the lightweight nylon zipper gave out on a really windy day. There are Shelter Logic forums you can get tips from and videos.

Some jurisdictions (citi3s, counties, etc), like ours, won't allow such in the front driveway or yard. If hidden from view in the back, different story.

HF has a similar for less than $200.

I love HF for certain stuff but I would want to check the Mil thickness of the HF shed.
