I had to replace the oil pan gasket and thought i would lower the front suspension instead of loosening the motor mounts. Piece of cake! I will do this all the time in the future. It gave me at least 2 inches of space to get to the front bolts and there was no problem returning it to the original location. It's sort of scary the whole front end is held on with only 4 bolts.

Thanks for the tip. I may need to replace the gasket on my car in the near future and this seems to make my decision a bit easier......Vic
I may have to remove cross member to clean and paint it. I think ill strip the suspension first. I wondered if it could be done with engine installed.
If you use a 1/4" drive wobble socket with an extention the front bolts aren't difficult to remove and replace with the crossmember in place.
yes, I have gone that route but this way was much easier to get the bollts started with 2 fingers.
I took mine out to rebuild, and ended up taking the whole darn car apart. BE CAREFUL!!
I Knew that could happen so I only lowered it a few inches. Its very tempting to remove it and service it.
Good to hear this went smooth for you, Dan. I did this when I replaced rod bearings and it was much easier than unbolting the engine.
