Stock MGB engine?
Get out a timing light and set the timing
easy
takes 5 minutes
baseline specs from which to work off of and then fine tune are
13 BTDC @ 1500 rpm
Disconnect Vac
then go road tune to the fuel

CW to advance CCW to retard
if you have it running and just ignore dynamic timing at idle and 1500rpm
you can just disconnect and plug the vacuum
set a dialback timing light to 32 degrees BTDC and zero it out all in at 3500rpm 32 degrees
then hook the vacuum up again and go load test it on the road
You ar looking for best performance not best idle timing.
