Even I wouldn't tackle this one. Maybe if it was a type 35 Bugatti or something. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1958-MG-MGA-Restoration-or-Parts-Car/391675437130?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D39923%26meid%3Df3259f5ea47b4ceaac9c110ff0099341%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D391675446682

Whoa! It gets worse. Only 5 grand for this Healey! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1961-Austin-Healey-3000-Parts-Car-or-Restoration-/391675439691

I'm in deep "smug mode" over my rusty MGA project after seeing these pics!

Healeys always seem to sell for 2.5x what an MGA does. 356 even way over that (7x, 10x, 20x for a roadster). Hard to explain. The worst part of those other makes is they don't have Barney.

At least the Healey has a good start with an MGA dashboard!

Look sharply after your own thoughts. They come unlooked for, like the morning dove upon your window sill, and, if you turn to your usual task, disappear; and you shall never find that perception again; never, I say-but perhaps years, ages, and I know not what events and worlds my lie between you and its return.

They just got done watching an episode of Barrett-Jackson. And of course the first thing they think of is, "I'm going to get a million dollars for that car I pulled out of the canal."

Rolled end over end out of a canal by the look of the Healey.

They also have a rusty MGA rear half listed with a Bugeye bonnet to go with it...

The MGA and Healey remind me of the Jag I was offered for $9K some ten years ago. As "the gambler" says, know when to walk away, know when to run.

...shudda seen the alfa Giulia that went for appx 9K this spring....worse than anything posted so far...it was a scatter pile of rust held together with spider webs...which of course that MGA and the alfa bring joy to my world....I sold a twin cam in 2014 for 10K and I was happy, a real project and plumberpilot said I could have gotten more....Oh well....I am a simple man who only needs an occasional slice of bread and water....and BBQ ribs.

These prices are typical for this seller. I've watched some of his cars in the past and IMHO his asking prices are ridiculous.

I've been watching the car ads for a while now and it always seems like "Dusty Old Cars" are a bit optimistic with their prices, but these ads are insane.

Those guys need their heads examined. The Healey's are hovering just above minimal parts/scrap value. That MGA will require significant investment to get anywhere near right. Their asking price for the MGA is absolutely outrageous, $4,400. Are they high, do they lock themselves in the spray booth and fog it up? The chassis is rotted to the point where it needs to be completely redone; it can't even support the weight of the car and has twisted. You're looking at about 20k in parts to put that car together, plus labor. Significantly more money if talking about any one of the Healeys. 4,500 for that twisted hunk of crap TR4? Any one of those cars should be 1k tops, I'd give you less for those Healeys. You're buying a locked up drive and power train, that's about it. Even the MGA doesn't have 1 sqft of undamaged bodywork, not including rust. My MGA was pretty clapped out when I bought it, sitting in a field for about 30 years. Yeah, I had to do significant frame repair and all the rest. Engine was a boat anchor, etc. etc. you know the deal. I sank in about 15k doing all labor in house down to the last finishing. You have to REALLY want one of those cars knowing full well you will likely not profit were you to ever sell it.

But look at it this way, it is already broken down into pieces for easy shipping.
