I have installed a new tank, fuel lines and fuel pump. No fuel in the tank, and no connection to the carbs yet. After the install, I turned on the ignition switch and the fuel pump clicked away as I expected it to. Today, after a few weeks of doing other things, I connected the battery, turned on the ignition switch and the fuel pump did not click. Is that normal?

Try tapping the fuel pump while the ignition is on.

Problem solved. When I wired the new pump, it was not attached to the bracket that holds it in place and that was when I tested it to see if it was wired correctly ( it was). Later in the week, I attached it to the bracket and at that time I pulled one of the wires off its terminal. I didn't notice that because the terminal was in a difficult position to get to. I feel better - most of the problems I have had during this resto were totally my lack of experience.
