Replaced clutch master and slave and flex hose, had a lot of trouble bleeding system. Finally got some pressure and 5 minutes later there is none.
(180-627 clutch master)
Should I look into getting another clutch master?

Moss has had quite a few recalls on the Classic Gold units. What both you Chuck are going through sounds to me like an internal seal not doing its job. In the case of safety items I would strongly recommend shelling out the extra $$ to get TRW who sell the best there are for stock LBC configurations IMHO. This is so much speculation with no fact offered of a defective master on either car. Just sounds that way.

I honed out my slave cylinder using 10W-40 oil, and a very good cross hatch pattern. I took the stock seal I had purchased, dipped in hydraulic fluid, then let it air so it would swell a bit. It was a b*tch to get in there, but it hasn't leaked in 15 years. I never had any problems with the Clutch MC. I recommend you put grease on the bleeding screw, and open it only slightly when bleeding. I used a "One man Bleeding tool" I've posted the pic of this thing so many times on this forum, and it bled all the air out, and I needed no second set of hands. If you just put this unit together, make sure the plunger is not in the retracted position, as it makes it difficult to get fluid in. You need some space to start the process. You can also bleed them from the bottom up, and any fluid that escapes will be that, fluid, no air will get in. This is such an easy process that you probably have leaky seals.

This things are cheap, they sell them on Amazon, they work excellently. The Aluminum has a Ball Bearing on a spring to prevent back flow. You turn the end to turn on or off.

And if the idea of putting petroleum, hydraulic fluid or grease into the internals of a braking system designed for glycol fluid only the Brits came up with glycol compatible lube years ago via Castrol. Red rubber grease or RRG as I refer to it.

And speed bleeders and their bag make a complete self bleed system for less than $15.

I inventory it all and the bleeders in the 3 most common sizes for 99% of LBCs. smileys with beer

I did replace the master and the receptor cylinders on my 67 OEW purchased form the Octagon Club owner in UK together with hose, very cheap, except the shipping cost to Belgium. It was not that simple to fit back the spring on the brake shoes, but finally got it. However I did not succeed to bleed it by the "manual" means. Did lease a Wurth automatic bleeder and it was done in seconds. Just need a 3k compressor.smiling smiley

Hi Richard. What is a Wurth bleeder? Did you bleed from the MC or from the slave bleeder pushing the fluid up through the MC.

or the pic below for AC current Wurth brand brake bleeder.

Speed bleeders $7 each. Compare at $10-12 all over the internet and the brag on chat sights all over the internet. They work and don't brake the bank.smileys with beer

If I did that a lot (bled brakes), I have to admit, I think that would be " Wurth" the price, seriously. Power bled cars really come out nice, then again, if you do it right manually, they come out just as good. winking smiley

Hello, Chuck : I did it from the wheel farthest from the MC , in my case, the passenger rear wheel - my 67 OEW is a LHD - I can tell you , it was achieved in a couple of minutes!
