hi-- is there any way to determine the worth of my vehicle??? its a 1963 mgb roadster-- vin ## with engine ## being 517.... the first to be made and brought over to the American market.. I'm thinking of selling this fully restored car as I don't drive stick and need the $$$... its a beauty and runs like a top-- I do have it driven every year-- and maintained... and stored properly... I want to be fair to a prospective buyer-- yet get the worth of the car as well...

Yikes,
A tad greedy I would say,
Many things wrong with that car for that asking price.

I consider the car "GOOD" condition based on the pictures provided. You are asking about twice the value based on Hagerty's car valuation.
If you've talked with Hagerty about how to interpret their rating system for condition, you'll find that just based on the condition of the engine compartment alone they wouldn't consider this car a #3 (good). It's at best between a #3 and #4. As a general guideline, a #3 car will be a contender to win local, judged shows. Hagerty's description of a #3 car includes "...the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws". This includes the engine compartment, interior, trunk, etc. There are too few photos to judge most of this car and even then you'd need to see it in person to determine how far off it is from a #3 since even great photos will be hard to judge and not show everything.
Based on that, it's between a #4 ($5,100) and a #3 ($11,000). Only seeing it in person can determine which it's closer to.

As I mentioned earlier;
"Many things wrong with that car for that asking price. "
the engine bay is dreadful;
Incorrect cylinder head for an early engine?
possibly replacement engine?
Wiring connectors?
Incorrect distributor?
crankcase ventilation?
rusty pedal box area?
Dawn, you are asking an awful lot of money for a car that needs some serious correction to be as you write, "this fully restored car".
Good luck with your sale

hi-- is there any way to determine the worth of my vehicle???
There are a couple of ways to determine how much the car is worth to a potential buyer. The first way is to solicit opinions here about what people think it might be worth. It's safe to assume that most people here own a least one MGB and have an idea about what they would be willing to pay for one in the current condition.
The second way is to put it on eBay with a $1 starting bid and no reserve. That's not for the faint of heart but you will walk away with a clear understanding of exactly what the market will bear, price-wise. I have done that a few times when I was ready to move on from one project car to the next and the results were always interesting.
If I may offer some constructive criticism as someone who buys/sells up to 5 cars a year, here is the red flag I can't stop seeing:
- You make the statement that it is "always kept in tip-top condition" - yet the pictures of the engine bay tell me that we have a different opinion of what that exactly means. I see lots of rust in the engine bay picture; notably the heater box (that one is caused by a leaking heater core) and the pedal box (those all seem to rust but they can and should be addressed). So the car either currently has a leaky heater core, or it did in the past but the heater box wasn't repainted when it was fixed. Which one of those sound "tip-top" to you? Neither one sounds tip-top to me.
From there I have to wonder what else meets your definition of tip-top? The more astute have already noticed the front fenders are wrong - was there crash damage that was repaired to "tip-top condition" there? There are only 4 pictures in your ad - but you are asking a premium price for the car.
While I understand you believe your car has provenance because it was the first one brought into the US, can you substantiate that claim? And how big do you think the market is for someone who wants the first MGB brought over? If you can substantiate that, and you think there is a buyer for that car in the +$20k range, then you should stick to your $24.5k price tag. The last car I sold (1998 Suburban) I was asking a premium price for based on how clean the truck was and all the work done. It took some time but I finally found my buyer - but it took about 6 months to find it. How long are you willing to wait?
