...........how angry this place has been getting recently? Not judging, as the song says 'anger is an energy' (PiL - Rise), just wondering if its the weather, something in the water, a batch of crappy rotor arms....................... Maybe we should all be very angry at the world we live in. Or maybe we are being told to be angry, when actually, there is no point, cause none of us can do anything about it. But if its the latter, who wants us to get angry and mean, and why?

Fight or flight...

Years ago a Filipino aquantance was playing pool in a bar in Long Beach. This fat white gal (who he was thrahshing) called him a stupid "Flip." He called her a fat stupid *****. The gal's boyfriend (probably 12 inches taller than the Filipino guy) steps in to defend her honor and the FIlipino guy starts swinging. Then all kinds of fighting starts among all kinds of people not even remotely involved.

My buddy and I backed into a corner with our beers and said, "You gettin' in this thing?" - "No? Me neither. Let's just defend our little corner here." - I couldn't remotely get interested in fighting for or against some stupid, fat, ***** of a bar fly. Some of them live for that stuff. Makes Friday night interesting.

Similar thing happened in a bar in Japan. This time it was 2 groups, one was mine. One of our (drunk) group bumped one of their group and spilled the guys drink. And then they started wrestling. Soon there was a dog pile on the floor of like 10 people. I was standing next to a guy from the other group and I said, "Look. You get in this thing then I have to get in this thing. Why don't we just hang back and drink our beers? I'm buying the next round." - He agreed.

So you see a fight happening on a forum you just have a simple choice...

Oh Mick, It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht the nicht. The usuals are all having the normal party, only the VW and the reincarnated Pommy "Son of his own immortal God" are spoiling the party. There's way too many of us to let that happen, and our little mate Jack Cass is poorly so our good vibes are going his way, and that anger crap is out the window.

Yo Mick!

I have noticed an up-tick in somewhat more nasty give and takes around here with the emphasis on the "give". A little less on the "take".

Personally, I've almost stopped watching any "news" programs. Still get a Sunday newspaper and a few weekly mags. I check the sports scores, weather and music scene on the net and call it a day. Used to stop by this forum a lot more too. Seems to me some folks would do better to set about fishing instead of trolling.

Speaking of fishing.....Last week I caught four, nice sized brown trout out of French Creek in Chester County, PA. Pan fried them with a honey glaze. It's a stocked stream so not as challenging as your waters. Just using an old Mitchell-Garcia 300 reel and some knock-off wooly lures. If it stops raining here today, may go down to the river (Schuylkill) late this afternoon and pull up a catfish or two just for fun.

See there.....doesn't everybody feel more relaxed?

I think it's a tough time current event wise and politically for many folks. Since they can't talk about it here, they resort to anger and name calling. It generally brings down the forum but, fortunately, some have kept their sense of humor.

Reflection of the tension in our society?
Really?

Hmmm.

Stop watching the news. Start serving your fellow man.
The numbers of the former really need to dwindle and the numbers of the latter can not possibly get too high.

I don't think William was saying he is tense, he was just making an observation.

Recently I lost a friend who I have known since we were in 4th grade. We worked together for 15 years and made it through that still friends. But I phoned him last year and he went into politics as he usually does. He and I have disagreed for over 50 years, so that is not news to him. I just wanted to say hello, but he kept steering toward politics. I refused to argue, and just laughed, which made him more worked up.

It's pretty sad when people get so tense and upset over things that are generally out of their sphere of influence, and have little bearing on interpersonal friendships. I have subsequently reached out to him twice, but apparently at this time of his life he cannot deal with anyone who isn't like minded.

I am fine with his beliefs, but even if I don't express mine he can't handle the fact that they differ from his.

In any group there will be lots of strong opinions and closely held beliefs. I know I’ve allowed myself to throw a few angry replies since I joined and I’ve been trying to avoid that now.

I guess the thing that I don’t quite understand is why someone would be on a MGB owner’s forum and all they ever reply or post about is regarding contentious issues. They don’t welcome new members, tell someone “Nice work!” on an accomplishment, help someone who has a need or question, tell a joke…I just don’t get it.

Oh well,

Steve

The trolls have to go somewhere don't they? I'm often amused when I see their posts on the other MGE forums as at some point they max out their limits of OT Posts and must post elsewhere to be able to resume here. It's quite obvious that some have no interest or knowledge of LBCs....

At 72 years old I have the right to P-ss off people. OK now that BS is out off the way lets get down to what really counts. Those hatchery trout are OK in a pinch. But try eating a wild raised trout. So much better. Whether it's fresh water, salt water, trout or any type of good eating fish. Fishing and eating the catch can't be beat. The people in England lose out on this.

John, do you miss the OBs? Except the storm season stuff of course. I always loved going there, fishing, camping and surfing.
