Somebody has converted the front to wires but not bothered to do the rear. Strange

Pretty normal.
If the car was originally wire wheel, the rear was probably converted by swapping the hubs after the spline drives failed.
If the car was originally steel wheel, someone was in the middle of doing the conversion, then found that the rear wire wheel hubs couldn't just be swapped.
The only way to know is to check the width of the rear axle.
As far as the price, I can't comment but it does look to be in remarkably good shape overall with a lot of original bits still in place. Yes, it will need a complete strip and repaint, but its getting hard to find relatively unmolested cars.
