As I was finally replacing the wire wheel grease caps, whose threads had been mangled years ago by a PO removing them with a pair of pliers, I thought I'd share this simple tool that I had fabbed up a while back.
I applaud Moss for making their wire wheel grease cap puller (Moss #384-935 $32.95), but you probably have all you need in your spare parts box (or can borrow off your car).
Cheers,
Rick
Pic 1 - If your grease cap's threads already looks like this, remove it with pliers and replace it!
Pic 2 - My tool is simply a valve cover cap nut (Moss #460-112 $3.50) and an HS4 air filter bolt (Moss #332-150 $1.40) locked together with a fine thread nut.
Pic 3 - The tool threaded onto the new grease cap (Moss # 662-030 $5.95).
Pic 4 - The tool threaded onto the grease cap in the hub for removal.

Brilliant!
“Ideological certainty easily degenerates into an insistence upon ignorance". Daniel Patrick Moynihan
In any debate, the side which strays from civil discussion is usually the side that lacks confidence in its debate position or in the merit of their arguments. Making personal attacks on the opponents instead of staying on the subject is also a sign of weakness.
Anyone who feels compelled to respond in kind to any perceived slight is often suffering from narcissism.

I bought new caps anyway but before inserting them I screwed on a 5/16 long nut (actually I used 2 exhaust manifold nuts) and then I just screw in one of my spare HS4 airfilter bolts and voila - I can't weld so that was my solution to this perennial problem.
