I have a 1963 B . When I got it the car had 1 wing mirror on the drivers side. I am totally redoing the car, so should I put a wing mirror back ? If so should I put 2 on? I am leaning toward 2. 1 on each wing. So give me your opinions???

Never had them on a B, but had them on a TR3 years ago. Love the look, but would want something closer as I get older. I would sit in the car and have someone move it around to find the best spot for use.

Moderately useful only. Closer to useless.

I seldom put the top up and use the rear view only.

Nice look.

I'm in the "no wing mirror" camp. As stated, they are practically useless. Besides, I like the cleaner look of no mirrors.

Opinions, everybodies got one and your's is the one that matters most!!
Just finishing up 1963, #6281 and on the road I was surprised how usefull the left wing mirror is. Set it and forget it.
If it came with it, go with it. You make the call.
Respects,
Ralph

Those mirrors are the ones that I am going to use. However mine were mounted above the center of the front wheels. The round type mirrors are my favorite.

Wing mirrors are great...no need to turn your head to check right side view, just a quick glance at the mirror will suffice.

My dad put those on himself way back in the early 60s. He would not let the dealer do it. Spent a lot of time figuring out exactly where he wanted them.

You can get them too far away to see much detail. That is why I like where he put them.

That position looks good. Not sure how you would get the nut on the inside of the fender. Must have been tough to get to. Where did the factory mount them??

Very difficult according to my dad. Would be easier today with modern swivel headed ratcheting box end wrenches.

They were a dealer installed item.

I enjoy the wing/side mirrors on my MGA Coupe and MGB roadster because I sometimes carry stuff on the luggage racks that blocks the rear view mirror.

The mirrors on the '71 MGB are factory, see: Clausager page 26 lower right. The box on the MGB luggage rack contains a crystal chandelier we purchased in Canyonville, OR.

The bad news on wing mirrors is that sometimes the driver has to adjust the seating position in order to escape the bright headlights behind.

Be safe out there.
Kenny

I had twin mirrors on the wings (fenders) of my first MG and liked them.

In fact I am not sure I like mirrors on the doors at all.

However, after searching this site phots and any other MGB photos on the net
I find it is extremely rare for anyone to have town wing mirrors.

One of the nicest ones I found was the blue MGB below but I do not know any more about it.

I am contemplating twin mirrors on my current restoration but before you drill holes
you have to be really confident, so maybe I will drive it for a while first with no outside
mirrors and see what I think....
