For my late 66-early 67 car. I know they were decals and not riveted . One side is the mg logo but the other is it the weslake patent.. is it a black sticker or a silverish one . And does anybody know the moss number?
Thanks for the help

Can not help you, as my late 66/early 67 shows the adhesive residue on the valve cover. The one that Moss sells is the plate, and not the decal. Unless one shows up, will not know if it is black writing on silver, or silver writing on black.

According to Clausager's Original MGB

The Weslake Patent decal was rivited on until September 1965, then became self-adhesive and was discontinued in 1967 on North American cars.
A special combined MG name plate and instruction plate was fitted on the rocker cover of the 18GF and subsequent North American engines until around 1970.

I believe this is it.

The thing is I see the black sticker decal with the patents on some cars. Red is my original valve color . On a black calage cover on a gt I’ve seen the silver weslake .. I know I’m being really picky here haha and in the end it’s just a sticker but I just want it to be correct

Tommy,
Nothing wrong with getting it right. thumbs up

A great many owners just like stickers!
FWIW the Black colour engines had only a 'smallish' blue/silver Leyland sticker. (below)

My 65 must be pre-September 65 because the one on the car and the spare are both riveted.

That's my steering column shroud Randy used for his steering lock decal and OD display model. I have used David's work also. Good quality foil plastic. Randy has a super right hand drive 66/67. Stickers may not have been used on Europe models though. These guys will work with you. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Do check Clausagers too. thumbs up

The blue British Leyland sticker went on in March of 1970, with some North American engines getting a red British Leyland sticker. (for authenticity be aware the BL stickers invariably were factory install crooked tongue sticking out smiley

Now that I know that the decal is black on silver, I found it on Moss Europe's site: Westlake Decal
