~ DOH!!! ~

I learned - DO NOT shower ol' school black tar batteries with WD 40 in an attempt to protect them.

Forgot what an effective tar remover the stuff is LOL! But no harm done, just some goo to clean up.

Why is this Jurassic battery rig still in my B? Not by choice; these Interstate Group 17 HF industrial-duty units came brand new w/ the car 4 yrs ago (yesterday!). 30K miles on they still test as new, what can I say ... with the care they get they'll probably outlast me cool smiley

Marco, hope you have better luck with them than I had. Seemed like I was always changing them out. Finally, I put a 12volt in the boot. That was before Group 26 batts were available.

Hi Wray, sorry to hear that ... hopefully they weren't like $150 apiece as now? I visited the local Interstate depot and was told these particular ones tend to live long when trickle charged during non use (which I do). They were really surprised to see them in a car haha grinning smiley

Learned that trick years ago.

Roof repair guys carry WD40 in their bags. Softens asphalt real well. Good for clean ups etc.

I did not know WD40 was mostly Kerosene and oil.
