Lawrence, it is a simple device to work on and 90% of rebuilds can be performed in situ.
What seems to be the issue you are struggling with?
Lots of these get rebuilt when what they really need is to be set up correctly.

will get you a good overview of what the carb looks like inside and out. I just bumped it for you. Go to the MGB & GT Forum it is on page one right now. (9/29/16 4 PM your time)
Most rebuilds are caused by a powervalve/acellerator pump/top gasket failure. The only rebuild item that the tabletop mechanic would have trouble with is if there is an issue with the throttle plate bushings. Then you want someone to do it for you.
I suggest you remove the carb from the manifold so you can check and trim the (very reusable if you are careful) gasket at the manifold.
You can always call me if you want to talk this through.

I found this link to be very helpful when I was learning more about the 32/36.

The Braden book is good. It does indeed have a section on rebuilding the carb. It was where I got my start with Weber carbs.

Rebuild is very simple. Follow Michael's paper in the library. Setting one up from scratch is the bugger.
Like any carb , throttle shaft wear/leak, dirt, butterfly centering about the only fiddly bits. The only thing you can't fix is is someone over-tightened the idle bleed. Not sure how yo would know other than difficult to adjust.
The complete WEBER manual is on the WEB.

I did mine with the rebuild kit, it was pretty easy. Just shop around for the kit, some are slightly different as far as the bits included. AND prices are all over the place. You can get the kit for around $30 with a little looking around the web.
