I am replacing the dashboard in my 1964 MGB. I recently found a used metal dashboard and had it powdered coated with a crackle finish. I am in the process of switching it out. One of the pieces I am having problems locating is the curved washer behind the Bezel nuts on the switches. I have not found them in the usual MG catalogs. Does anyone know of a source?

Thanks

Try emailing sales@durite.co.uk and ask. They make a replica of the Lucas toggle switches (much better quality than those masquerading as Lucas) and include the 'wavy washer'.

Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.

GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

Jim,

I'm looking for a few of those as well, let me know what you find out if you contact durite as Barrie mentioned. Since those go behind the dash I was thinking of using external star washers if I can't find another suitable replacement.

Cheers,

Don

I have seen those wavy washers both in front and behind the dash and I never knew where they properly belonged.....

I have never seen them behind the dash. On my first 1962 B they were behind the Bezel nut as well on my 1964. This is to protect the finish on the front of the dash. I have an inquiry to Durite. I will post the reply.

I have just gone on-line to the Fastenal site. They have then. They are called Wave Washers. I will carry a sample to their store tomorrow.

They are fitted between the retaining nut and the dashboard.

I thought the washer was to apply a bit of 'compression' to the back of the dash and help lock the bezel - ICBW. On reflection those that are used on seat belt bolts might just about be the right size.
