I'm grateful that VB has a lot of the parts I need, but they have to be the slowest shipping company in the world. Anyone have any suggestions on another company? Maybe Moss? Maybe there's a trick to it. I have probably purchased some $20k in parts over the last 20 years from this place and they are slow as Molasses when it comes to shipping. Can't wait for the day that Amazon has an MGB section.

Expensive shipping as well. Order takers are worthless.
We are spoiled. Our local MG guy often can get items in 24 hours with free shipping. Plus he stocks a lot of new and used stuff.
For us mail order is not a good idea.
Look for a local guy.

It's just rather annoying to order something early on a Monday and by Wednesday not have any update on if it shipped. I had hopped to have things by the weekend to get underway. Was not always this way.

Moss seems pretty quick to me. I toured their plant, and the guy who showed me around said that if a part is in the warehouse, it will go out that same day.
Never had any real complaints, except for the time I waited six months for some wheels. They were on backorder.

This car is now very nearly completely done. Sure to find something else, but not now.........And 12 years later, I'm starting to fix things that were new when we built the car. It's pretty well de-bugged!

The problem with VB is, you could order something and even pay for the rush shipping and they still take 2-3 days to process the order. And if ONE little part is on backorder it seems to hold up the whole order. It really sucks for those of us on a timeline.

I've been pretty lucky with VB - always ordered on line though, usually shipped out next day? But that being said I have ordered from Moss, The Roadster Factory and a couple others and they all seem to be pretty good...looking forward to dealing with Robert Kirk for the C project - have heard lots of good about him as well....Jeremy - being in Wisconsin maybe the dogsled teams run a little slower??? (sorry being from Canada I have had to deal with winter digs all the time - just taking an opportunity on someone who is further North than me! )

I won't slam VB, but there are many other distributors who put them to shame, and that is too bad:

Always order online. Always slow. We're still in Zone one, so once it ships, its here in a day or two. Trouble is them actually getting it to that point. Kirk is a good guy to deal with. Never had issues with TRF or Moss... VB just seems to have the wider/better and cheaper selection. Trade off is LMC is wearing so many hats, too many hats actually that they are slow to process orders!

I'm thankful that I work in Kansas City from time to time and I just call them and drive over to Lenexa to pick up the parts. From what I've seen of Moss, VB is quite a bit cheaper. Never had to have anything shipped from VB and never had an issue with the order takers.

I have family in the area and in the past have picked up directly as well. I've never had issues with order takers either. Just seems the processing of the orders takes some time. I figured ordering on a Monday I would be safe to have things by Friday. Oh well.

Not always, I am looking at ordering a replacement dash cover (whole unit), VB is $70 higher, plus as mentioned their order takers are just that and no more. Plus I too have experienced them sitting on an order 2-3 days before shipping.
I try to stay away from VB anymore.

Moss, in my experience (lots of $) is very prompt and efficient with order process and shipping. I usually have what I order in 2-3 days.

I might suggest Northwest Imports. Steve is very knowledgeable, friendly and quick to please. Order on Monday, and it ships on Monday. He doesn't use shipping and handling as a profit center, and always includes a piece of candy in the order. I've been using him for over 20 years, and find his pricing to be better than all of the other "usual suspects". I highly recommend him.
The downside, is he doesn't have as wide a selection as the others, but some prudent shopping on the purchasers part makes it worth it.
I've also dealt with Gordon at the BHive, and he is also good to work with.
Basil,,, what can I say that hasn't been said. He's great!
I think that if you go through the list of vendors on the left of this page, you can find any parts that you need, new - used - NOS - Chinese copies etc. etc. etc.
Have fun
