Is there a meant to be a rubber vacuum advance tube that is to link from the base of the distributor to the inlet manifold ?

Or does the metal flame tube do this job?

I've looked around the distributer base but don't see anywhere for a take off point.

Thanks

Ian, it's ported vacuum so it goes to the rear carb. There is a small brass fitting on the vacuum line that threads into the lower, inward side of the carb, I'll try to take a pic of mine. It can be a bit fiddly to get screwed in, not the easiest location to get to.

Thanks Wray....I found it easier to remove the rear float chamber to get easier access to screw the flame tube in underneath

Is the vacuum brass fitting nearby to this then ?

Ian, the tube with the flame trap is the vacuum advance tube from the distributor. They are one and the same.

When I got my car the pipe from the distributor had been screwed into the hole on top of inlet manifold into which the vacuum pipe for the washers orignally fitted. After advice from John Shorten I plugged that hole and screwed the vacuum pipe into the correct hole in the rear carburettor. I managed to do it by putting my right arm along from the front of the car.
