Be careful tying down using the rear axle... You'll crush the brake lines and end up replacing them. Last time mine was flat bedded to the paint shop, they tied to the front bumper mounts and ran straps in the back through the openings in the wheels.

I used to work for adesa pitt as a roll back drive i used wheel straps when ever i could . very damage free.
Not to mention, when the bed hits a bump, the suspension movement doesn't allow the car to roll/bounce. Remember to put the hand brake on and take it out of gear to save the trans.'58 Bugeye

I've done this more times than I want to count. Number one rule , if you plan to do this more than once, invest in some good ratchet tie downs. They come in many flavors, wheel tie down being one of them, and that is if your trailer is set for such tie downs. I use tie down made with axle strap loops made into them, on the front I got around the control arm, in the rear I go around the axle tub , but under the brake lines. it's those steel hooks on the tow trucks that kill your brake lines.
This company make good tie downs at a reasonable price, I've used them for years. Oh and you will not find this sort of stuff at Harbor freight, or Northern, etc, most quality tie downs are mail order. The good stuff will have a locking hook, the cheap stuff does not.
