Good Afternoon All,

What do you use for transmission fluid. My Spridget had Castrol 20w/50 in it when I bought it. We drained the tranny and filled it with Redline MTL and had a shifting issue (maybe unrelated to the fluid!). I have been told to use 50w racing motor oil. Curious as to the general consensus as to what is best to use. Stock box, btw. Thanks in advance.

I prefer Redline MT-90. It made a huge difference in the 1-2 shift in my '72 Midget.

Miller wrote 20w50 on my SCCR box.

I just wish it would run so I could shift the gears.

I built a SCCR gearbox early last year. Been putting MTL in it. Really slick and effortless shifting up and down.
Not real sure of the wear properties of using MTL though. As a new gearbox I've changed the fluid out a couple of times.
So far so good, but Redline is expensive! I probably should use what Miller recommends.

The older I get, the faster I was.

I use MT90 with the MG transmissions in both Elvas, as well as my street Austin Healey 100. It provides smoother and faster shifting than with usually spec'd engine oil whether multi or uni-grade.

I use AMSOIL EP in the G4's steel gear dog box as well as in the diffs of all the cars.
