I'm having trouble understanding the installation on these things. Has anyone used this product? How did you install it, what do you think of it?
Also what is a good water temperature to activate the fan?
Thanks
Travis

Although my brand is different, they both should mount the same way. The sensor is carefully inserted through the vanes of the radiator. Some people mount it near the radiator input hose, but I put mine next to the outout hose, to monitor the temperature of the coolant as it goes back into the engine. In the second photo you can see the control box. It is the silver box just above the air filter and to the right of the charcoal canister. It is close to the fuse box so it was easy to wire in. You can wire it to an always hot terminal, and the fan will continue to run even when the car is turned off, until the temp drops below your setting, or connected to a switched terminal so the fan turns off when the key is turned off. I wired mine to a switched circuit, because even if the radiator is cooled by leaving the fan on, the coolant in the engine is not effected since the water pump is not pumping. I set mine to turn on at 160 degrees, the same temp as my thermostat.

Thanks Wayne, I just found a photo of my owners manual. It was in a misplaced computer file. Strangely it recommends that the thermo tip to be put inside the radiator hose, and the included foam pad to somehow seal the wire and the hose? Strange. I never thought of matching the rheostat to the thermostat. Thanks!

Yes it goes inside the hose, I did this with mine. You are supposed to use the top hose, take one end off, slide sensor inside, carefully reinstall hose, tighten clamp. I tightened clamp more than usual and had no leaks. I set mine at 180°, it only comes on in traffic on hot days.

Hey Phillip, does your car still have the belt driven fan, or are you running electric only.

No fan, for some reason the 1275 fan wouldn't fit between rad and water pump so I installed a pusher fan in front. I had a 948 with two blade fan before.
