As it has been a few years and these things change all the time, what is this years favorite things for gasket sealers and other assembly type goos, sprays, magic pastes etc? As soon as the paint is dry, putting the water pump back on, thermostat ( gad, what narrow gasket surface) etc.

Permatex has been around a very long time, providing excellent sealants.

Fore sure, I have a cabinet full of them. Just wondering if anything has changed while I was off designing amplifiers and speakers. Progress happens, sometimes. Modern engines use very few gaskets. Lots of sensor-save sealants. Of course they were designed for sealants, where the B was designed for gaskets.

In general the MG is designed for no gasket goo.

I only use it sparingly on one side to aid assembly only.

Put in on both sides of a thermostat or water pump gasket and the price you will pay next time will be big. can turn an hour job into a day.

Permatex is what I use.

Autozone had a Felpro gasket for the thermostat. Permanent type. Thick. Reusable.

For questionable mating surfaces, The Right Stuff. Not cheap, but it is the best on the market for sealing problem spots. My other favorite is Hondabond (aka 3M Bond). RAY
P.S. Roger, The Right Stuff is made by Permatex also.
