These little black plastic hooks were in one of the boxes of parts that came with my Midget and had me stumped. I finally spotted them in one of the pics that VB had in their interior install directions and put them in that location. Then at the British car show at Palatine a couple weeks ago I spotted them on one of the Midgets and asked the owner what they were for. He told me that they were for the tonneau cover. That didn't make any sense and our tonneau didn't have any thing that would use it.
Looking in the owners handbook for something else there they were. I had installed them in the right place and know knew what they were for. Simply to hook the seat belt buckle on so it would be easier to reach.

They also help prevent closing the seat belt latch in the door and messing up your paint ... not that I'm speaking from experience.

There are illustrations and instructions for their use in the Driver's Handbook. Whitney"s Midget still has the handbook. It is a wonderful document. It solves all sorts of mysteries that I see pop up on here. Such as what these hooks are for, how to properly fold the top when it is down, valve clearances, maintenance intervals, etc. It even outlines the 12 month/ 12,000 miles warranty. Which was good back then but, absurd by today's standards.

I knew what they were for from my owners manual, but the Securon buckles on my previous Midget didn't like to stay on them for very long. I found them to be a bit of a nuisance, actually.
