I earlier reported problems with fuel delivery on my '71 B.

I brought the problem down to the fuel tank pickup tube - or at least, that's where I am now. The pumps would provide spec'd flow from a gerry can, but not from the tank.

I had previously had the existing tank cleaned and lined at a good rad shop.

I ordered a '77 fuel tank sender with integrated pickup tube, but on installation found that I have a tank with a baffle that interferes with the new pickup.

What are my choices?
a. Fuel tank replacement?
b. To make up some sort of pickup tube through the old sender?

I'd like to keep the tank I have, but I'm a bit stymied.

Thanks again for your help.

Some people who used a tank sealant had the screen sock on the pickup tube get clogged. In at least one of those situations, compressed air was used to blow the sock off the tube, leaving no restriction. Maybe that will work for you?

Hi Jim,

You're quite right about the possibility of clogging the pickup filter.

I gave the pickup a couple of good blasts with compressed air to no avail.

I'm afraid I'm in for a tank!

At least you can get a new tank AND know that it is a Canadian product!

You're probably closer than Quebec to me, Chris.
