Found this odd rear bumper bar on a '70 MGB. Looks like some sort of Amco unit. At the time, it did not look like somebody bent it into that shape. However, it looks like the straight unit in this thread.

Other than blocking the license plate, can't see any purpose to that.

Kind of ugly IMHO.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the split bumper on the one year only configuration.

It is a MGB Rear Bumper Guard for a split bumper 1970 .

Have this in my spares , new never installed.

Made by American Carrier Products from Northern Hollywood California came in a British Leyland box ?

I guess we are nearing the point of seeing EVERYTHING!

1974-1/2 Roadster, "Bumble Bee", Corvette Yellow - in shambles, wire wheels
1976 Roadster, "Virus", Sandglow - "driver" condition (stock + 32/36 Weber DGEV, cast iron header, 25D distributor), bolt on wheels, ON the road!

Could be used as a point for strapping things down on the boot rack, I suppose.

I agree, but the license plate is in the wrong place.

When I look at that bar - the straight one - it looks to me like it's meant to go on the front bumper as a mounting point for driving/fog lights.

I'd agree with you, Chris. There's no reason to have a bar across the back.
