Hello,
What is the proper color for the steering shaft (the shaft on the steering rack that attaches to the steering column and steering wheel)? I know the main assembly is black, and the "Original MGA" book says black for the shaft, but I've seen a few natural finish ones and just want to confirm if it's black or natural from the experts. When I bought the car, it was colored "rust." Thanks.

Yes black, but don't paint the splines.

Chris,

Maybe the attached picture will be of help, a restored steering rack and universal coupling. Don

Look sharply after your own thoughts. They come unlooked for, like the morning dove upon your window sill, and, if you turn to your usual task, disappear; and you shall never find that perception again; never, I say-but perhaps years, ages, and I know not what events and worlds my lie between you and its return.

Fantastic, black it is. Yes, splines are already taped off. Thanks for all the confirmation posts!

I was going to say that rust is natural.

Though black is a much nicer finish.
