What is the difference between a speedometer that reads 2400 vs 2401?

I am unfamiliar with the numbers you posted. They do not correlate to any number that I know of for MG's. There is a Tech article in the Library titled MGB Smiths Speedometers Reference that has some information on Speedometers. However, I remember seeing a web page that had had more information on it that the one in the tech library. I can not seem to find that web page, though.

A more useful number would be the turns per mile, e.g. 1280 or 1000 or other, to the right of the serial number.
