The interior in my '67 GT needs a bit of tidying up. I would like to repair some of the panels and the top edge of the rear seat back has been sun-damaged.
Has anyone found a source for the bright red vinyl that was used in the 62-67 B's?

Mike:
Be aware that there were at least 2 and maybe 3 different reds, and different vinyl grains used from 62-68. None of the kits are correct in my opinion, and in comparison to original samples. I would suggest that a canvas/vinyl repair shop who does marine upholstery would be your best bet. They tend to have many choices and good product. You should be able to come close.

Finding a material with the right thickness is going to be hard. The original covering is quite thin with not a lot of stretch.
Most of the vinyls fabrics that I can find result in a "puffy" look that is not quite the same as factory.
I did manage to get some of the proper material from Mcgregor that was used to cover the front of the dash scuttle on the 68.

Thanks guys for the replies.
I had looked at the Woolies version; the grain appears to be completely wrong. Searching on the Internet for an appropriate colour and grain has yielded very few possibilities, and even they look doubtful. Stretch was something I considered, but not the thickness. So at least 4 variables at play. Maybe this is why Moss stopped offering a 62 to 67 bright red option (of which I have a sample, the grain is incorrect but different from the Woolies offering!).
Thanks for the tip re: the marine upholstery shop.

Hi Ken,
Yes, in fact, I have 3 or 4 yards of it here. Unfortunately, it is the darker red that was used in the 68 B's. Salesperson said it was for 62-67. It is such a pain in the arse to send things back to Moss after I have carted it over the border that I did not return it. So it is sitting here as a back-up plan though I would really like to keep it closer to the original colour.
The Moss upholstery sample card which I ordered from them last fall still had the bright red vinyl on it and I thought that is what I was getting.

For those keeping score at home, this is one of the best I have found so far, but maybe is a bit too dark. I will see if they provide swatches.

Basil, could you provide a close-up pic of the material you used?
Thanks.
