I hate to think that I'll be someone's future DPO but... Last week I snapped the nut off the axle stud holding the rebound strap. After the appropriate amount of cursing and kicking myself I calmed down and came to you all to save me. And sure enough, I wasn't the only one to have done this. From all the posts it seemed the easiest fix would be to do a little grinding and drilling for a cotter pin so that's what I did. I think the result will work without having to trim the strap at all.

Good job! If that's the worst DPO fix you perform you'll do fine.

There really isn't much lateral strain there. The strap limits downward motion. I think that's a great repair and certainly wouldn't cure the PO if I found one like it on my car.

Expensive & painful,Bart? I am sure Bob took much more time drilling that hole than I did cleaning with a wire wheel ,grabbing a washer and flipping the mig switch on. Yes long sleeves and gloves do cut down on the pain. However drill shavings in the eye are no fun either.
