Auction going on right now with some good T Series parts available. I guess you can bid online and arrange shipping but verify. I am not affiliated with auction in anyway.

Good items? To what were you referring? The damaged fenders, the lots that have virtually no T-series parts in them? The Alfa Romero poster? The lockable file cabinets (no key)? The T series front suspension with the 4-lug brake drums?

Bids are mostly at the 3-4$ range, where they ought to stay... JMHO. I hope there are better offerings when I go to meet my maker!

Lots of treasures there for pennies on the dollar including some T-Series stuff. TC wings, damaged or not are certainly worth 5 bucks. But as usual on these bulk auction sites, shipping would make it not such a good deal. 1800/GA engine for $3.00! And Magnette grills, MGA coupe doors and an early TD XPAG block for similar prices. Hope they find homes, not the scrapyard.

Really? What got your dander up, it's just a stupid auction. Were you expecting all NOS parts? Overaction to say the least.

Tim - I agree completely with your precise description - a stupid auction. I get calls at least once a month for collections like this, where the sellers have bought what was found piled back behind of a former repair shop, or what's left after another restoration. Almost everything is incomplete, bent, miscellaneous, rusty, cut up, or was removed from a car because it was already worn out. I used to be tempted by piles of side curtain frames, used master cylinders and body parts, but then I realized they are someone else's junk being passed along. I just don't have room to store such debris, on the odd chance that I may some day need some part I then can't find..

Steve is 100% right that TC fenders are desireable (I missed that listing in my quick skim), but have you ever tried to fit a scuttle from one car onto another? When was the last time a spare-tire rack was needed? And used hub-caps?

My dander certainly isn't up. I just don't see much value in other people's left-overs. To me, this is stuff that 99% of MG owners would never use.

Sorry if I offended you or anyone - I just think things need to be put into perspective sometimes.

You're never going to find a parts hoard for sale with no junk in it, but there is still a lot of good stuff there. Things I have recently sold for hundreds of dollars, sitting there with a $3 bid. But again, location...

Tom, I must disagree. I have participated in 3 of these auctions and have, for the most part, been pretty pleased with the result. For example I previously purchased a NOS TC clock , 6 TC shocks, 8 cylinder heads, a TC gearbox, some good TD big and small gauges and from the present auction for a TF a new set of side screen covers, tonneau cover and a used, but complete windscreen wiper setup. Mostly the prices were extremely low. By the way they did ship the parts.
Looking at the last auction (yesterday) I noted that most of the "T" body parts were for a TD and, checking the eBay action on this type of parts, there is almost zero interest. If I had been closer I would have been bidding on the Magnette. By the way the TC fenders were pretty rough and shipping would have been expensive.
Cheers, Hugh

Hugh - you get absolutely no disagreement from me! I think we are absolutely on the same page.

Had there been T-series clocks, heads, blocks, instruments, engine parts, or any worthwhile TC parts, etc. in this auction, my oipinion of the sale would have been very different. But it was very miscellaneous TD/MGA/MGB stuff, without much interest or value. To me, the TC fenders were the most interesting thing, and they were indeed very rough.

Like you, I value good parts, in decent condition, and not someone else's left-overs. The number of lots that sold for $3 gives the best overall picture of the quality of the parts and the sale!

Just because parts are MGA or MGB instead of TC doesn't mean there's no value there. For example, a 3-main 1800 engine for $3 isn't an accurate picture of value and quality. That's easily a $500 engine, all day long. Last one I sold went to a guy who drove 800 miles to pick up and paid full asking price. These auctions usually go cheap because A) no one knows about them and B) they are local events so shipping is a killer.

Chip, thanks. Not sure why the negative response from someone who had absolutely no dog in the fight. I certainly would have bought some things if I had been there or they would have shipped them.

Regards
