Speaking of flush,
If you put in regular bolts, with a liberal dose of the loc-tite that is essentially permanent (forgot which one that is, red?), then cut them off flush, then after you paint the head it looks like the casting was never drilled. I think it is the cleanest of all, looks-wise!

I use Allen head screws they go in flush !
I got the ones custom-made for all MG's with the air pump log, like you, with allen head. I don't think the price was outrageous and I'm a cheap ol' chap. My first Midget had the bolts cut off and dope PO painted the engine with them sticking out 3/4 of an inch.
