I see these awesome GTs with Sebring body kits and all sorts of different flared fenders with minimal tire clearence.

I currently have minilite knock offs, and don't see that I could get much wider with my current set up.

So what are folks running for rear axles and front suspension on Sebring and flared fendered cars?

Do I switch to lug nuts hubs and rear axel then run wider rims with a higher off set? Or is there a Sebring specific set up?

Probably a better question for the swaps forum or alternatively you could read through some of these on britishV8. For my own part I'm still wrestling with what to do. I am restricted by my authorities in that I can only increase track by 1". So I had to buy the 51" version of Fastcars front end and not their 53" which is designed for those wanting to run front flares. At present I'm looking at retaining my Salisbury rear (albeit with a Quaife) which will be located by CCE suspension. The alternative is to "shorten" another axle eg as written in my signature block. Others use Dana44 or Ford or .....axles.

Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.

GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

Why go wider without the need?
Drop in horsepower needed and capable of the flares and body changes
You planning to run in excess of a 205 with a stock B series is like a 10 year old stuffing her maidenform winking smiley

That is not this

Or it should be in near by neighborhood
Or even close

Luke: If you're looking at doing something similar to Sebring or SCCA flares then it's a combination of wheel width and offset as well as tire size to fill the wheel wells.

Barrie has a great suggestion.... the Dark Side pages have a ton of people who have figured this all out. The other site to look at is http://www.britishv8.org/Photos-MG-Conversions.htm the write ups on each car often contain the information on wheel and tire choices.

It boils down to how much cutting and welding do you want to do.

I've got the fenders figured out, I got some be rabbit wheel arches.

What I want to know is how to fill them up?

My knock off miniltes take up a lot of space but don't stick out and don't require a fender extension. I want to know the different types of hubs, wheels, suspension, etc used to widen the stance of the GT.

7" wheel, zero offset with 205 tire looks good. That with the steel wheel axle. Your wire wheel axle is narrower and you will need 8" and 225 to fill the rear arches. Or use the same bolt pattern 1" wheel spacers. Sell your knock off wheels.

Does anyone know where the best place to get a bolt on rear axle and a set of bolt on front hubs?

I have that! But it increases my track by more than I'm allowed but I'm still trying.

"Does anyone know where the best place to get a bolt on rear axle and a set of bolt on front hubs?"

See on the LHS of the page there's a forum called Buy, Sell & Trade. Put a WTB there and you'll probably do better than evilbay. I've got a set of front hubs but I'm a bit far away as far as shipping cost goes.

Luke,

I am using the front valance seen in the picture below for my "Sebring" look, but I decided not to do the flares. I will be using the wheels shown in the second picture. They are 15" ROTA RB wheels with Dunlop Direzza 205/55SR15 88V. My rear wheel arches were "pinched" many years ago to give a little more space so no rubbing problems. The rear valance of choice is in the third picture.

Those who confuse Burro and Burrow don't know their @ss from a hole in the ground...

My modified B with Sebring flares: http://www.britishv8.org/MG/SimonAustin.htm has 15x8" Minilites. I can't recall the offset but this code from the Minilite site (http://minilite.co.uk/products.htm) may help: 15x8 MA1580B ET3-ET[-]16

In the real world, the rear tires have about two-fingers-width between the sidewall and the flare.
