I live in Maryland, near Washington DC, and have had several problems getting my car restored. Does anyone feel comfortable recommending anyplace that can complete this task for me? If you feel there are places to keep away from that would also be greatly appreciated. The current status is the body work is 95% complete, the engine has been rebuilt but needs assembly. The last shop that had my car lost the transmission cross member and the hand brake assembly so those items need to be located and their paint job looks like it was done by the painters junior high school age child. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I should mention that I'm just looking for a decent looking driver, not a show car....
Thanks....

If you have not reached out to the 'local' MG Car Club, you should. www.mgcarclubdc.com
There are advertisers to the monthly newsletter that have been doing restorations for many years. Simply offering a recommendation is unlikely but you can get members to offer their individual experiences. I'd suggest that your best bet is to attend the preeminent annual Britishh car show for the DC region. The Hunt Country Classic Vehicle Show will be held on Oct. 12, 2014, in Marshall VA. Details at the Club website. There you'll have endless opportunities to discuss restorations with the 100 or so MGB owners with cars in the show. These cars will span the gamut of 'concourse' to 'daily driver' cars.

Thanks for responses. My first bad experience was with Vendor that advertised in our local Car Club Newsletter. It was my intent to attend the Hunt Country Classic but unfortunately I will be in Ontario, Canada that weekend. And yes, what I am actually looking for are positive experiences from local car owners.
