I broke my passenger seat belt today and am wondering if anyone can suggest what car I might be able to salvage a replacement from at the car wreckers tomorrow. It's a 3 point belt with the third point on my roll bar just about ear level.

I would never fit a used seat belt - you have no idea what its history is, it might be fine or it might be bad - not worth taking a chance and new ones are cheaper than a visit to the ED!

Series III Jag. I used the rear seat belts with the front seat receivers.

Just buy a replacement. Moss or VB. I got mine from VB for my 74 and they work great. Modern retractors work like modern car.

In reply to # 3049719 by Gleno I broke my passenger seat belt today

Ok, I'll ask. Would you tell us the story about how you break a seat belt?

If the webbing failed why look for another 'old' bit of webbing to fail. Buy new webbing, go to a awning repair shop and have it sewn correctly to the metal end.

Just by new ones! Not worth losing your teeth when the old fabric breaks. I'm all for originality but NOT when it comes to seat belts.

Check out Seat Belt Planet. Reasonable prices and safe.

Well this is proving to be a toughie. I now know more about seat belts than when I first posted my questions. I now know you can't nor shouldn't use any old seatbelt from the scrap yard. And I also found out that any reputable upholsterer won't touch seat belts, thank you very much.

Mine broke at the plastic adjuster quite innocently, it must have been already compromised. I checked the drivers side and it's not too good either.

I bought a universal seat belt and installed it but it's not right. The strap with the latch is too long and my upholstery guy won't adjust it for me.

I've been looking in the moss catalog at part no. 222-025 but I can't tell how long the latch strap is. The one I've taken out of the car is a cable strap and measures about 12.5 inches. I'd prefer a cable strap, that one isn't. I also consider part no. 222-204, also not a cable strap.

To explain; I have three bolt downs, one on my roll bar about ear level behind the beltee, and two behind the seat-floor level left and right.

I'm open to suggestions please. What do I do next?

And John; golden corral? Nope the very northern end of highway 101, Lund Hotel, BC, Canada.

Sincerely I will buy new seat belts, I don't think you should ever recycle the seat belt, who knows how the car was scrapped in the first place ?

I was never steered wrong by Brown&Gammon maybe it is because the pictures are better than MossMotor.

I'm sure MossMotor and VictoriaBritish are good too, but somehow it is hard to figure out the exact detail on their sites.

That UK site has the same seat belt set that I'm taking out of the car. I can't imagine what shipping would cost, shipping to Canada from the U.S. is high!
I'm including a picture of that set, perhaps someone can steer me to where I might order it from a Canadian or U.S. supplier.

Not sure if this will fit, but try Leacy Classics. They have free shipping.
