A question to those who have shiped to OZ from CONUS.

AFAICT, the only US mail options (presumed to be the least costly) are Priority mail (small package) and first class mail (small box). I find the costs to be about twice (or a bit more) of that to ship to Europe. Am I missing something here? The numbers seem large to me. Are there other options with different carriers?

If you find it, let me know. I had the same problem. The cost of shipping was more than the parts. UPS and FedEx are even higher than USPS.

We have mailed Valances to OZ cost around $100, 12x12x55 11 lbs they have weight and size requirements, don't know the weight limit ,but we barely make the size requirements , still a lot cheaper than airfreight !!

I've sent small things to NZ and USPS is least expensive. It is 2X+ as far to Oz as to Europe, especially from CT. There is also surface mail, the slow boat to China sort of thing.
