Having trouble replacing the rear mounts as they will not line up .I think i have to replace the front mounts I need over an 1"or so ,my thinking is that the engine has to be pushed back and as there is a spline prop shaft can this work ? with changing out the front engine mounts i may be able to . Now i understand why the New radiator will not fit .
Has anybody had this problem or is it this crazy field find nothing amazes me about this car .My wife passed away this week from brain cancer and this car has help me get my mine off things
she always wanted the garage clean up i guess i better get this car done and to the paint shop .
Greg

Sorry to hear of your loss Greg but sure glad the C is taking your mind off things.
The C gearbox mounts are handed so could you have them the wrong way round.
It doesn't look like that will make all the difference so a picture of the engine mounts may help us to help you with your problem.
Simon.

Small world. One of the lads I coached at American Football for GB Lions got himself a scholarship at Boise State and he has just graduated and now works in the local Mercedes dealership.

If you need any help then we are here with advice.

Thanks Ron Cancer is man's worst enemy i guess Lost a beatuiful soul .
Well on the car it seems that it was towed around from one yard to another or a shunt and the engine came forward from what i'm told by club members
the answer is to loosed the front mounts first and then use a engine hoist and move it from side to side backwards and hope the new front engine mounts will line up ..they say they will
I hope this helps some one else that might run into this problem as Simon said the rear mounts are handed but you can see by the offset the engineers had tough time getting this to work
from day one not sure about cars with overdrive i think there might be a difference.

Simon Boise State here's a big thing everywhere you go here there's Orange and Blue flags and signs
i just emailed Ron on what we found on the car it seems the engine moved forward when in the farmers field
being move around or a small stunt ,so engine hoist and and some muscle push it back let hope that works

Murray Yes you have the answer this car has no restrictor plates which means the engine has moved forward by almoct 2 " the problem is solved
Robert has them in stock which is good news Someone did a clutch job and lost or disregarded these plates the engine was fine but down the line the engine moved foward
Thanks so much save me a lot of trouble

i suggest if the engine has moved that forward new engine mounts are a priority, 2 inches would have touched the radiator with the fan under braking hard !!

Yes your right i will change out the mounts as well now i know why the field find had a trashed radaitor and fan Just one mistake when changing the clutch caused so much trouble .
I bet alot of folks will be checking to see if the front engine mounts have these restrictors in place .
Thanks everybody for your help saved alot of head scratching and work .

I just installed those today when putting my motor in. I had no idea they were that important. Mine were all bent forward. I bent them back to the as-new position, but from the sound of things, a previous set of engine mounts must have failed.
