I asked this question several years ago because I added a HRW in my 67GT.

I installed the push/pull switch where the dash light rheostat used to live.

I do not believe the '66 GT came with a Heated Rear Window. That being said, I think a good place to install one is where the bulb dimmer switch goes between the turn signal indicators. Lucas has a switch that the center knob actually lights up when the switch is activated.....

The HRW was available as an option and is shown below on the Bentley wiring diagram.

That's interesting because on the 66 I'm going to be converting to LHD later this year that's exactly where it is !

That said Leacy list a HRW switch for for 66-72 cars hence the question of where it goes, but I note from Lloyds comment in the other thread you linked to that it was a dealer option and therefore fitted more or less randomly.

I'll ask the owner if he wants one and where.

That's the switch and it lights up when activated. I have seen the white as well as red lamp on that switch but prefer the white lit switch.....

HI Guys

Mine (on an early 67 Mk1 gt) is in the position the overdrive switch is normally fitted. i.e. the last hole in the dash next to the door and next to the fuel gauge. Guess it depends a bit on if the OD is fitted

The car in question does have OD otherwise that would have been an option.

Back in the day accessory switches were put often on brackets under the dash. My heated window switch was on a plastic bracket attached to the square bar under the dash. The switch was a red illuminated rocker switch.

Period type Lucas switch brackets appear on EBay in a variety of finishes, black wrinkle, brushed stainless or chrome.
Often Lucas original or repo brackets are on offer.

There is also a vendor on EBay UK that sells a variety of period stickers, including a period Smiths Heated window sticker.
The sticker has the chrome back ground with the black lettering.

Safety Fast,
Neil
