Does anyone run a progressive two barrel Weber on their stock 1275cc Midget engine?
Wondering how it performs?
Also wondering how the single side draft Weber performs on that engine?
NOT interested in hearing that I should just stick with the stock twin SU carbs, that's not an option here.
Thanks—

I would strongly recommend Pierce Manifold (Google it) if you need to buy, rebuild or for parts. Very good service and excellent tech and help. The 1275 is raced and the MGA is a weekend driver, rally car but very happy with the Weber on each.

I have run a DCOE 40 set up by Jim Inglese of Inglese Inductions. The car started, idled at 1000 r.p.m. and has not give me any trouble whatsoever. I won't mention anything about going backwards to S.U.'s.. I just found my other DCOE 40 and am saving my pennies for the cross flow head. Jim Inglese will sell you everything you need and tell you what you need to do. He co authored the "Bible of Weber carbs". I would call him and talk to him. His phone number is: (203) 623-0659

I highly recommend getting and reading this book.

This in the second Midget I've owned that I've put a side draft Weber on because they are such great carbs but its all about the getting all the right part numbers for it to run properly (jets, chokes ect.) and not necessarily what it comes with. Pat Braden's book lists all of the necessary part #'s for stock engines that are backed up by test drive as well as dyno but you will have to do some minor tuning. His numbers are right on, and my Midget runs great and it would have taken me a long time of trial and error if I hadn't found Pats book. If your considering getting a side draft Pats book is a must. I love my 45 and oh that classic Weber sound!......Bob

Thank you all ! ! ! !
Just what I need to know.
I currently have a Weber DCOE and a Canon manifold for an MGB down cellar. It was originally set up to run on a stock MGB so the carb is going to need a different tune for sure. Might be able to sell the MGB Canon intake or even trade it for one that fits the 1275 Midget engine. Otherwise just buy a new intake, no big deal.
I was wondering if anyone might be willing to post/share what size jets/tuning specs/changes/set-up, etc. that they're running on the DCOE to make it work well on a stock 1275 engine?
Like to get the carb all set (or as close as can be) while I'm looking for the manifold.
Thanks for any help/advice/opinions !

I just got in and began looking around on the web for a DCOE manifold that fits a 1275, and ran into this manifold as well.

Anyone with any experience with running one of these? I have a nicely re-worked 1 3/4 SU that I could use on it, just wondering if anyone has any experience with these?
Thanks again—

Thanks Bill.
The hood clearance in an A35 isn't an issue at all. The "bent up" orientation would actually be a plus as the steering box is somewhat in the way.
Nice to have this intake "problem" finally sorted out, now just have to sell some more VW parts to raise the cash to buy the manifold.
Shouldn't be long at all.
