I have looked at EPS units. All I can find is the EZ-STEER units. The EASYSTEER co. is cheaper but don't offer one for a LHD car The EZ-STEER kit runs @$2400.00 US. Is there another co. that offers a kit or is that about it? Let's just say that appeals to me and if it does not appeal to you then don't put one on your car.I do not wish to get into the disc. of to power or not to power, I am not trying to be rude but lets just stick to the ?

The Hot Rod folks have newer versions of the old 50's era bolt on assist units.

I bought and installed the EZpowersteering.nl unit from the Netherlands and it works quite well. Price is about comparable to the EZ-STEER units and is made specifically for your vehicle, in your case an MGB.

The price on the EZ really skyrocketed! It was less than half that when I did mine in 2010. The parts are all off-the-shelf, it should be very do-able if you have some fabrication skills.

Ron, Thank you. I did contact EasySteer and yes they are less expensive but don't offer a unit for a left hand steer. Steve I do have fabrication skills. Own my own CNC mill, Man.MILL, CNC L:athe, Man Lathe, Welder, Cutting equip. ECT. I am not an auto expert by any means. I have read a great many posts on steering geometry, angles , and a host of other issues here on this forum. I was just unsure of the pit falls pertaining to this (those that I don't even know enough about to know they are pit falls) and the fact that I don't know enough about other makes of cars to know where to start looking at other units that could be used.My ignorance in this field is what holds me back. Yes I can fabricate parts for a retro fit assy. but without knowing where to start I am at a loss. I see the link about the CADILLAC elc. steering unit, but what model? What else do I need? What yr cars? That sort of stuff. A bolt on unit would be great, but if all that is required is mating the correct components together That would be an easy fit. I have a brand new steering shaft I just bought from the UK. And 2 or 3 older units that I could cut apart if needed. I just don't know enough about the ?s to look for to come up with the solutions. Not to be a bother but if anyone has a list of the correct parts I need to get I will work on a new unit and would be willing to make 1 for that person as well. I don't see the fab. work as a problem just the correct components to use for the assy.

David, that's strange because mine is LHD and another chap around Toronto also got his from them and is LHD as well. Not sure why he told you that.

I am talking about EasySteer. They said they don't have any LHD in stock for the unit. All they have is RHD in the UK. Am I getting confused about company's here? Between EZsteer, EASYSTEER, and EZpowersteering.ni ? Went to the EZpowersteering.ni web sight but it is in a dif. lag. I can't read anything about it. Now here is another ? If I used the SATURN power steering unit, could I use the auto speed sender from the EASYSTEER people to control it? They sell a var. control unit to hook up to the SATURN motor, but it is man. var. adjustment. The EASYSTEER Co. sells an auto unit. I wonder if they are compatible?

Yes, that is the man adj.unit. I am looking for the auto adj.unit. The Easysteer Co. has one that goes with their sys. I was wondering if it would work with a stock sys. It is an elec.? about how these systems work and are parts interchangeable.

Dave,

Google "electric power steering". There have been several how too articles about EPAS.

With your access to fabrication equipment adapting a GM EPAS should be a piece of cake? The areas of concern I've read about are securely mounting the motor, mixinging and matching the various of U-joint sizes, shaft sizes and thread counts. I would get a manual adjust control so you can set the assist to the level you like.

Good luck, Steve

Dave..............back in the day.....we used what we called "kneckers knobs". Mount'em on inside of steering wheel so when you spin the wheel, nuttin' catches. Gitt'em at Tractor Supply Houses now daze. I'm amazed all you MGB drivers are such wimps. Iff'n you really want eazier steering, change yer caster from 7-deg to 4-deg. ...or... increase yer front tire pressure. Simple, eh? .........farmer Dell
