Hi,
I am thinking of fitting electronic ignition to my pos earth 66 B, to aid staring,

Will not help in starting.

Had on on my 63. Did nothing. special. Removed it. Likely runs better now.

To blow my own horn, which I probably shouldn't, the CDI that I build is compatible with positive ground and it will help with starting, hot or cold. The early RVI tach (external loop) can be made to work too, but requires that it be wired differently through a bridge rectifier that I would supply free of charge. The rectifier allows the tach to work with the switch on the CDI box selected to either position, STD (Kettering) or CD. The ignition system itself is not inexpensive, but you do get what you pay for. It's a real CDI, not a simple inductive type switched by a transistor. Fred www.capacitordischargeignition.com
