Is there something missing in this picture? It looks to me like there used to be a GND cable in this on the top between the 2 lugs.

Nope, that's it. Just installed one two days ago; couldn't have been easier.

Do you mean that short cloth-covered ground wire between the movable plate and the body? I don't see that in your photo.

Hmm, I just looked at the site I used to do the installation
here, and there is indeed, a little ground wire. I don't have that on mine and it seems to work fine but maybe I ought to look into getting one. Moss PN 153-645, $2.35.

More information: from http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/points.htm

Both 25D and 45D have earth/ground springs between the moving points plate and the fixed base plate, which should mean that a separate earth/ground wire is not required. But having experienced intermittent cutting out when pressing the throttle on a Scimitar GTE - usually just when pulling out into traffic(!), with a Ford distributor that only had the sliding contact by design, I wouldn't recommend it. In fact the first Scimitar tip I came across was to retro-fit a ground wire, which I did, and it solved the problem.

Thinking about this some more; can't really see a need to ground the moving plate. Nothing on it that needs a ground with the Pertronix install.

I went ahead and made a ground wire. One side is soldered in and the other connects to a screw. I saw where there used to be one. it does have the wiper plate also.
