Tonight I made a patch panel for the left rear fender of my MGA. It had been torn and crumpled sometime in the past and repaired pretty poorly and this area is beyond repair. I ground off plenty of body filler, 1/2" thick in places. I used the fender on my other A as a reference for the plywood form and made a new part. It took a few trips to the sander, it's a compound curve.
Making the panel took less than 2 hours. Welding it in will take another 2 or so. Much better than tossing a fender out.

Mitch,
Do your skills go as far as some lead wiping? A dying art.

Yes. I do all of my heavy-duty contouring in lead first. Allows just a skim coat of Bondo for boarding later, and adds a bit of strength. Lost art, but I like to keep my skill set tuned up.
