Paint it the same color as the engine. Looks better from underneath the car

Looks pretty clean as is , if I was going to paint it I would use an aluminum color paint to make it look " natural " IMO

I have left the mine bare aluminum. The Datsun 5spd has been in there for about 20 years now and still looks fine, but living in east TN, I don't have to worry much about the corrosive effects of salt brine on aluminum. If you don't plan to drive it when the roads are full of salt, I would just leave it bare and not worry about how well your clear or color will or will not adhere to the aluminum.

Can't see it going down the road. Paint is just extra weight.

I'd leave it natural.

I'm not a purist, but to me a painted transmission is just plain "wrong".

Make it your own Jeff, make sure it pleases you when you look at it!
The rest of us don't drive it, look at it, etc.
The wife & the grandkids have asked me many times why I take the time to do what I do on my little car, they say nobody will ever even see that...I always respond: " but, I will!"

I'd leave it bare, but think matte clear would look better. Not that you'll ever see it.

I agree with Dave not that many other people will ever see it so do what makes you happy. My self I wouldn't even bother but than I don't have quite the same conditions in winter to deal with.

Thanks all. Poll has ended. Clear coat it is.

I do like the idea of a Satin Clear. I may give that a go.
