I did the stripping of my car, to metal, then epoxy primer then urethane primer and had MAACO shoot the final color urethane with mixed in clear coat (one shot).

Quite happy.

My strong suggestion, if you are going to do it yourself, find a vendor who can provide all you will need and deal with them. In my case I bought $200-worth primer from Summitt Racing and when I needed a different reducer they could not provide it because of California laws.

My top coat was from Sherwin-Williams and were I to do it again (shudder) I;d buy everything from them. Even though it was a 100 mile RT to their Sacramento store. They listened, offered suggestions, and made what I wanted. Cost less than I expected.

No bull**** about compatibility.

The local auto paint store acted like I was an idiot when I walked in and asked for, oh, PrepSol. "never heard of it" Yeah. Bought it across the street at NAPA.
