At today's exchange rate of $1.52, that's $94,000. Holy crap. That's crazy money.

I'll take MY MGB, value about $15,000, and spend the rest on a nice, used 911 Porsche.

Now that's a good deal!eye rolling smiley

I need clarification.

I always thought MGB = roadster, this is a GT.

So is he an idiot, or am I misinformed?

Also would have liked to see him do 160 MPH on those roads - one less braggart.

OK: Learn something new everyday.

But even this Forum is called MGB & GT, implying a difference.

Frankly, I have been wondering why it has taken someone so long to do this. Would not mind seeing a comparison of the roadsters, as well. It was nice to have a tester who did not automatically declare that the older car was crap, as a certain someone on a competing program has intimated.

It is just lacking the specific designation of "GT." Both are MGBs. It isn't misinformed to think that MGB refers to the roadster version, it's easy to do so.

A. Tiiff is no idiot. Check his Cred's
B. If the LE50 were capable of 160mph (it isn't) on any road,he could do it.

Tiff Needell certainly no idiot. No car in the UK is allowed to legally go faster than 70 mph so you could say that anyone who pays that money for such a powerfull car that you can never use to the full, must be an idiot.

Just because some can do in excess of 70 doesn't mean you have to do in excess of 70. After all the MGB with HC engine could do over the century mark if desired and nobody would consider the owner an idiot.
You can always go to the track.

It's a specialty car for a few people with money to burn who would just like to have one. I think they're only selling a few. I'll wait till the price drops by about 80% on a used one. And I don't think they can even be imported into the U.S., in any case. Looks pretty impressive, though.

I imagine if you really wanted to, you could take an existing MGB-GT and upgrade it for a few tens of thousands of dollars and get fairly close to the spec on that car.

MGB = roadster
MGB-GT = grand touring or hardtop version of the MGB
They're both MGB's

Actually they can be imported to the USA. Two are here already, I believe. They are titled as pre 1968 cars.
