I was happily tuning my carbs after converting from the ZS to SU HIFs and just happened to look under the car. Low and behold there was a very big puddle of oil under the car. My oil pressure had been fine during the run ups. I immediately shut down the engine and began the search. It was not the drain plug and I could not see any significant leaks anywhere. It looked like it may have been from around the right rear of the engine from where it hit the floor plus the area around the oil cooler line and the oil pressure flex line looked a little suspicious. I topped up the oil (2 quarts) and did a quick engine run to see where it might be. It was flowing out of an area between the oil cooler line and the oil flex line. Shut off the engine, checked lines, all tight. Then I took off the oil pressure flex line, cleaned it up and reinstalled it backwards from what it had been (block side to top, top side to block). Oil quantity still good so I fired it up and did a quick look. The oil was now flowing out of the top connection of the oil pressure flex line. I found the culprit! I have never had a leak here before and had not worked in this area for over a year (when I put in the oil cooler lines) so not sure if it is a common malady or not. Just wanted to share what I found. I am optimistic that a new line will take care of the problem. I really wanted to get out and finish the carb work but that will have to wait a few days. Joe

I installed the new oil flex line yesterday. No drips, no runs no problem. All is well! Joe

It looks like the old line was bulged at the top. Bulging oil lines are not your friend! smiling bouncing smiley

This car is now very nearly completely done. Sure to find something else, but not now.........And 12 years later, I'm starting to fix things that were new when we built the car. It's pretty well de-bugged!
