Oh, I am SO frustrated with cheap stuff. I really like the look of the Moss thin (think A-H Sprite) leather shift knob but it is all plastic underneath, breaks, slips and is, in general, a cheap POS. Moss just sells what everyone else sells so this in no knock on Moss. The walnut knob I am back to after destroying my second cheap knob trying to "make it better" looks horrible in my all-black cockpit.

I'd pay 60 bucks for a good quality black leather shift knob with a metal insert. Anyone know if such a thing exists. I did find one I liked. Black anodized aluminum. $160!!

I worked out how to do them for the knob with the overdrive switch on top.

The top part is steamed into shape. The lower part is stitched like leather covered steering wheels.

The difficult bit here is to cut away the inside of the plastic top so the switch sits higher to allow for the thickness of the leather.

Doug,
What you want is a vintage AMCO knob. Check Ebay, they come up all the time. Usually around $30.
