Hello ya'll from Texas..I have a small shop here in the Texas Hill Country..I do mostly chevy trucks and muscle cars... I came across an ad for an mg the other day that was an original owner car that have been sitting for years I couldn't pass it up against my better judgement. I normally buy cars to flip but this car has really kind of got my affection. The issue I'm running into is I'm not sure what this car is... nothing for parts in the catalog lineup with this car, it is a 77 MGB looks like it has air conditioning but other than that I have no idea what it is at this point...

a hot rod shop in Bandera??? I never heard of such a thing. They still ride horses through town on 16. I had a couple of friends over in Medina for a while. One was managing a vintage race car collection for a Dr. who lives there in Bandera, and my ex bought a house there in Medina a few years ago. I think you live in one of the nicest areas in Texas.
Feel free to get with me by email if I can help you with your car. It appears to be a stock 77, but without photos of the engine compartment it's kind of hard to tell. I've had a few of the rubber bumper cars in the last couple of years, and there are some basic modifications you can make to bring the hp back up and the suspension back down.
Show us some photos of the engine, a good detail shot of the carburetor side of the compartment, a good detail shot of the distributor side, and a shot of the front of the engine compartment showing the A/C and the other units hanging off the front. If it does have A/C it will be very anemic as the 77 only made 65 - 70 hp, and the A/C robs better than 15. Also, show a photo of the gearshift knob. If it has a switch in it, it is an overdrive car, which is a good thing.
All in all, no real mystery, just basic checking all the boxes.
Have fun

just saw the extra photos. Not an overdrive trans. A/C is there, but might be problematic,,, where is the compressor?

Well Ed, it looks like you have a very straight '77 MGB. If you are looking for parts, then you can try Moss Motors (www.mossmotors.com), the3y cover all MGB's from 62 up to 1980. The car itself will have a 1.8 liter inline 4 with either a stock Stromberg single barrel carb or a single Weber or even a pair of SU carbs. Normally these year cars had the CEI electronic ignition distributor. The A/C is a plus (if you don't like driving with the top down). Keep it for the time being and work on it a while and see how you like it. The rest of us brain dead folk love them. Jim

Thank you so much for all the information guys, yes it is beautiful up here in the Hill Country, and I use the term loosely on hot rod shop LOL it's more of a bunch of yard art as my wife describes it. But we do some cool cars here, and drink a few beers, and have a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to driving this little convertible through the Hill Country on a fall day up here

Check out the tech library on this site here: http://www.mgexp.com/library/ it has loads of great info. Also your car has the original Zenith Carburetor which most guys don't care for and swap for either the twin SU carbs that where fitted to the earlier model B's or for an aftermarket Weber carb.

Welcome Ed. Check out the tech library here as there is lots of info available. Lots of knowledgeable people here to help as well. Looks like a pretty much bone stock car to play with and as you'll find out, pretty simple cars that are fun to own and drive. The Buy Sell & Trade forum is a good place to source any missing bits and there are some excellent vendors that can cut you some breaks on parts. Have fun!

I was addicted to the hokey pokey but I turned myself around.
